WILLIAM P. HARDEN. Cobb County, Georgia, Will dated Sept. 20, 1883, probate Aug. 21, 1885. “. . . being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I have strength so to do make & publish this my last will & testament. . . . I give & bequeath to my beloved wife SARAH all my household & kitchen furniture, & bedding. I give & bequeath to my children CARRIE LOUISE, JESSIE LOGAN, WILLIAM PRESTON, CLAUD, & FLORINE each $200 having given at least this much to my other two children, ARTHUR MURRAY, & REBORT RAYMOND, heretofore.”

“I desire & bequeath all the rest of my estate, both real & Personal, to my said wife & said children, to be divided equally, share & share alike. I hereby give & grant unto my executor full power to sell & dispose of all my real estate, personal property, & mineral property, & all other property, either at public or private sale, without any order from Court – provided that if said property shall be sold, my executor shall first obtain the consent of my two children to wit: ROBERT R. HARDEN & CARRIE L. HARDEN in writing.”

“It is further my will that in case either my said Daughter or son should die before this will is carried out, then it is my desire that my executor shall obtain the consent in writing of the living son or daughter to the sale of any of my property - & in case both should die, to use his best Judgment & discretion in the sale of my property.”

“I hereby constitute & appoint my friend JOHN M. STONE my executor of this my last will & Testament. In case of the death of my executor J. M. STONE, I , then appoint ALEXANDER H. CLAY, to take his place, to act in his name, stead & place & under the same instructions as my deceased executor.”

“I also give & grant unto my said executor . . . full & ample power to form print stock companies with any or all my mineral property including my share which I hold in Powder Springs (Mineral Springs) property in Cobb County, Georgia to sell & stock in shares of such amounts as he may deem to the interests of my Estate . . .”

“I also direct my Executor or successors to pay out of my estate to my brother N. B. HARDEN the sum of $2500 provided that $2500 is realized by sale or otherwise from my said mineral property. Otherwise he is to have nothing. In the event of my said brothers death before my death the said legacy to him is to lapse & go to my children.”

Executor: Friend, JOHN M. STONE, or in event of his death, ALEXANDER H. CLAY.
Witnesses: JOSEPH CHAMBERS, W. N. PACE & R. P. DEMPSEY.

Codicil dated Dec. 12, 1884, Cobb Co., Georgia. “. . . First I wish to change the fourth clause or article of my said will so that my son WILLIAM PRESTON may receive no more of my estate than my other two sons ARTHUR MURRAY & ROBERT RAYMOND & be equal with them.”

“I have my life insured in the ‘American Legion of Honor’ & the policy made payable to my wife SARAH JUNE HARDEN for $3,000. I wish to change or revoke it so as to give my wife S. J. HARDEN only one half of such amount $1,500 & the reminder or remaining one half $1,500 to be equally divided between all my children, ARTHUR MURRAY, CARRIE LOUISA, ROBERT RAYMOND, JESSIE LOGAN, WILLIAM PRESTON, CLAUD & FLORINE.”

Witnesses: S. J. IRELAND, JOHN ASHWORTH & T. H. STEWART.
